MÄRKLIN TRAINS FOR SALE - PRIMEX
Märklin introduced the Primex line in 1969 in an attempt to increase market share by offering a product suitable for self-service department stores while protecting the Märklin name for full-line hobby and model railroad shops. Primex locomotives and rolling stock were manufactured using Märklin parts and processes but were often less detailed than similar products bearing the Märklin name. There were exceptions, such as the Primex 3191 shown above, which had all the detail of a traditional Märklin model. Some Primex items were available in color schemes that were not offered in the normal Märklin line. While the Primex line was largely discontinued in the early 1990's, Märklin occasionally releases a limited-issue item under the Primex name. Recent examples include the Primex 30031 Cl 24 Steam Locomotive issued in Photogray livery in 1996 and the Primex 33005 Cl 23 Steam Locomotive issued in Deutsches Bundesbahn (DB) livery in 2000. |
